Having been employed for a number of years within the Youth Offending Service I applied to do the DMS course in order to further enhance my skills and move into a management position. The course allows me to work through case studies at a steady pace. The tutors are very friendly and assist as and when required, as do the staff at PATH National.

So far the experience has been pleasurable and well detailed with a great deal of influence from class mates and tutors alike. This type of training is valuable to enable more staff diversity and awareness in management positions. It is intense but I believe worth every minute of hard work applied!

I found out about this DMS programme through the BME Network at Waltham Forest PCT. There were not many opportunities for professional development of non-clinical managers so I jumped at the chance to take up the course. The DMS programme has been excellent.

I have met strong, competent BME managers from a variety of trusts; I have learnt about my strengths and weaknesses; but most of all I have developed a new range of competencies and the confidence to pursue career prospects at a more senior level. The course is hard work, but it is worth all the effort!
